Home Theater & Systems Program
Residential Systems & Home Theater Program
Our core Media program is a three-phase, 14-day, accelerated curriculum that is aimed at the development of CE Integrators. We achieve our targeted goals by implementing a holistic approach to education where the first day relates to the last, and the last to the first, continuously cycling through a multiple of viewpoints that directly relate to the implementation of Consumer Electronics.

Media Dynamics' unique approach to education teaches the important key fundamentals and reinforces understanding, rather than memorization of facts developed around what we call the '5-Pillars of CE Implementation':

I. Installation
II. Setup
III. Troubleshooting
IV. Calibration
V. Consumer Acclimation

Our proven delivery method consists of interactive presentation style education supported by impactful images and graphics, Multimedia video & audio, our proprietary Media Dynamics Manuals (M1, M2 & M3), combined with hands-on Skills-Verification lab sessions.

Course Schedule
Media Module 1 (M1)
Duration: 4-Days
Target Skill Development: Electro-Acoustic Fundamentals & Structured Wiring Termination

At the forefront of our program, we educate participants in the essential understanding of electrical and acoustical fundamentals their appropriate units of measurement, and requirements for signal interconnection and cabling. This core provides a solid base upon which all future modules will be placed. We also provide a basic review of trade focused calculator usage and common mathematical formulas.

The critical understanding of the inter-relationship of network interconnection is delivered via education on the relationship of TRS (Tip, Ring & Sleeve), cable signal losses and the role that the custom installation technician plays in network design and installation. This not only results in a solid base upon which to build, but simultaneously reduces the complexities normally associated with the education of signal flow management, interconnection selection, and general troubleshooting.

You will build skills in a variety of areas including: using digital multi meters, testing DC Resistance, AC & DC Voltage, DC Current, Diode function and bias testing, determining wattage, creating, terminating and testing; Mono RCA Patch Cables, Balanced Mono RCA Patch Cables, Quasi-Balanced RCA Patch Cables, Mono RCA to Balanced XLR conversions, Stereo RCA Patch Cables, RJ 45 Data Patch Cables, 110 Data Punch Down terminals, Coax Compression Cables.
Media Module 2 (M2)
Duration: 6-Days
Target Skill Development: Structure Cabling Standards & Practices

M2 is our next layer of contextual education placed upon the base education of M1. Using a new and innovative instructional style, M2 successfully teaches students all of the common practices, standards, and skill-sets required to perform the Prewire & Trimout phases of both New Construction and Retrofit projects in the shortest time possible. M2 also expands on the network principles introduced in M1, using RF Broadband, Telco and IR (infra-red) networks as illustrations.

The M2 Lab sessions are engaging, as students build skills using industry specific tools, while recognizing their proper utilization and applications. Extensive lab based, skills-verification projects place participants on the appropriate path to concealed wire-path planning, and execution. As M2 comes to a close, the participant's newly acquired skill-sets are put to the ultimate test. Students will perform a complete new construction Prewire & Trimout, working from an actual project Wire & Hardware plan, complete with 60 demarcations, 110-wire runs, within our two-story, 10-zone, open frame project house. This is 'The Real Deal'!

You will build skills in a variety of areas including: Retrofitting Speakers & Volume Controls in Drywall, Flat Panel Display Mounting, Utilization of Industry Specific Drill Bits on, Concrete Block, OSB, MDF, Drywall, dimensional lumber, Vertical Free Space Wall-stud Drilling with 6' Bell Hanger Bit, Horizontal Free Space Wall-stud Drilling with 6' Bell Hanger Bit, Utilization of unique specialty tools, Extensive Utilization of Toners & Network Testing Devices, Ultrasonic & Other Exploratory Devices.
Media Module 3 (M3)
Duration: 4-Days
Target Skill Development: Home Theater Components, Topologies & Calibration

M3 is where it all comes together as we enter the last stage of our unique '5-Pillars' education in residential electronics and home theater! In holistic fashion, we pull the central themes of M1 and M2 back into the spotlight and utilize M3 to cement them together, by harnessing their characteristics to properly design, install, setup and calibrate Home Theaters based on industry standard Dolby & DTS surround sound topologies.

Students learn the relationships of past, present and future audio, video and IT technologies and the central factors which controls their progression and implementation into our homes, resulting in the birth of 'Home Theater'! This overview explores each of the various A/V technologies revealing their inherent strengths and weakness, while building the student's essential skill sets needed for proper product selection, setup and calibration.

The graduate will ultimately understand that system integration is all about signal preservation versus noise reduction, its place in time (phase), and that they are the keepers of the signal!

You will build skills in a variety of areas including: Dolby & DTS System Topologies, Home Theater Interconnection & Bandwidths, Home Theater Prewire & Trimout, A/V Component Software Setup, Home Theater System Calibration, Display Technologies , Scanning Systems, Resolutions & Display Aspect Ratios, Projector Placement & Mounting, Projector Brightness Requirements, Projection Screen Size & Gain Limitations, Video System Calibration, Remote Control Programming.
